As the first ray of morning sunshine shone in through the gauze curtain, Adeline opened her eyes. It was dawn. It was time to start a new day, but for her, it was a new life. Like what she had been doing every morning since becoming Brendan's wife, she took the clothes that Brendan was going to wear for the day, ironed them, and laid them on the sofa. Then, she went downstairs to prepare breakfast. A cup of hot coffee, one sunny-side-up fried egg, and a piece of toast with butter. All of these were Brendan's favorites. After that, she went upstairs. Brendan had already gotten up. He was putting on his trousers. His belt hadn't been fastened, and it was hanging around his waist. Thinking of what happened last night, Adeline blushed. "You were exhausted last night, and you got up so early. You should go back to bed after I leave. " With his back to her, Brendan spoke in a soft but distant voice as usual. Adeline lowered her head and grabbed the lace hem of her apron. She rubbed her fingers against it over and over. Her palms started to sweat as she grew more and more nervous. Taking a deep breath, she finally decided to blurt out what she wanted to say. "Let's get divorced," she muttered. Letting out those three words seemed to have used up all her strength. After a short pause, Brendan continued to fasten every button of his shirt. Then, he put on his cuff links and then his watch. "Brendan, you sleep with me so that I will be able to produce an heir for the Clemons family, which is your grandfather's wish, right?"

Even at this moment, Adeline still didn't want to give up. The sex last night was true and so was the pleasure. Maybe the only thing wrong was her feelings for Brendan. She started to imagine that even just for a short moment, maybe Brendan truly loved her. Brendan stood rigidly for a moment, and then he frowned. "Don't you k now everythi ng clearly?" . The next second, he s aw that Adeline nodded and smiled bitterly. In his memory, Adeline had always been obedient and suave. But today, she seem ed to have changed into another person. Lowering her eyes, Adeline replied, "Yes, I know ever ything very well. I know that you've never liked me. You hate me. Every second with me is torture for you. The sun sh one on her pale face. Brendan saw the co ldness and firmnes s on her features. "So from now on, you don't have to to lerate me any longer. Let's end this m arriage. I'll leave you, as you wish. She chose to leave, so Brendan and Tiffany cou ld finally be together. Adeline no longer wanted to be the third wheel. She was tir ed of feeling like an unappreciated jester in her own husba nd's court. She was done begging for the love she deserved. She would let Brendan go. He no longer needed to sleep with her while thinki ng of another woman at the same time

Sometimes, when he was was ted, he would even call he r by another woman's name. The past three years was like a dream. But now it was time for Adeline to wake up. S he didn't want to deceive herself anymore. Brendan was surprised at first, and then, he looked at Adeline with disdain. Ever since they got married, she had been trying to please him and hoping that he would fall in love with her. But h e had also made things crystal clear to her from day one. "Don't dream about things that don't b elong to you. " That was what he had bee n telling her from the very beginning. He squinted at her, feeli ng that she was getting mo re and more unreasonable. He sneered, "Let's get divorced? Have you rea lly made up your mind?" . "Y es . Adeline nodded, took out the divorce settlement with her signat ure on it, and handed it to him. "I've already signed it. Please sign it as well and inform me when we need to go to the court. Then, she grabbed her packed suitcases and ma de her way downstairs. Brendan didn't exp ect that Adeline w as being serious. He stared after her thi n figure and then spoke in an emotionless tone. "Once you walk thro ugh that door, ther e's no coming back. Comi ng b ack? . Adeline had been trying her best to show Brenda n her real and sincere love for him, only to be hurt and taken for granted. She'd had enough
