Love After Divorce: My Ex-husband Wants Me Back
Chapter 16 I Won't Divorce You!

Since Brendan and Adeline got married, Gerard had been urging them to have a baby, which put a lot of pressure on Adeline. Sometimes, when Gerard reminded her harshly about the baby, she would feel sad for a long time. But Gerard was really a kind man, and behind his cold demeanor hid a warm, gentle soul. All the members of the Clemons family were discontented with Adeline's family background, but Gerard had never looked down on her because of it. Moreover, he often asked Brendan to be nice and caring to her. Her family frequently asked the Clemons family for money, but Gerard didn't mind it. In fact, he even offered her a position in the Clemons Group, but she respectfully declined. When Brendan ignored her, Gerard would comforted her, telling her that it wasn't about her, but that Brendan had always been cold and arrogant to everyone since he was a little boy. Adeline was not an ungrateful person. She also wanted to fulfill Gerard's wish. But the problem was that she was unable to conceive. She didn't want to tell Brendan the truth. Since they got married, she had been afraid that he would hate her even more if he found out. Now didn't seem to be the right time to tell him, either. If he found out, would he think that their marriage had been a sham from the very beginning? . "Grandpa can't bear more sorrow. We can't let him notice that something is wrong. " In Brendan's mind, Adeline was just making an excuse. She just wanted to divorce him as soon as possible and escape from him. Was he so terrible? . Or had she fallen in love with someone else?
That might be the re ason why she insiste d on divorcing him. Brendan felt a strong sense of frustration at the thought o f Adeline becoming someone else's wife. He resented the ide a of her smile and her tenderness belonging to another man. "I won' t divor ce you!" . "What did yo u say?" . Adeline thought th at she didn't hear Brendan correctly. In the past, all she wanted in life was to marry him, and she had spent countless hours thinking of ways to make him happy and satisfied. But all he'd done was disappoint and hurt her. She'd had e nough. Now, she had fina lly made up her mi nd to let him go. However, he did n't want their m arriage to end. It seemed that he was deliberately trying t o make her miserable. But her heart was already set. He r decision was final, and she beli eved that she wouldn't regret it. "Brendan, I can help you lie to your grandpa, but after he recovers, we wi ll go to court and end this marriage. Brendan was rendered s peechless. He tried to spot a hint of reluctance on Ad eline's face, but all he saw was cold indif ference. Was she really going to leave him? . He didn't want to admit it, but Adeline's determi nation really upset him. He was overwhelmed by a mixed feeling of anger , disappointment, frustration, and something el se that he had never felt before. Was it love?
Before he could re act, Adeline turne d around to leave. He grabbed her hand i n a hurry. "Where are you going?" . In the past few days, Adelin e had been in the hospital a nd hadn't had time to work. She took a deep breath and let out a sigh of exasperation. She turned to look at Brendan and replied, "Don't forget that we're t wo very different people, Mr. Clemons. You're a boss who's free to do whatever he wants while I'm an employee who has work to do . I'm going to visit Treacly Honey and work on my design. I'm very busy, so if you could let go of me, I'd really appreciate it. However, Brendan didn't let go. Inst ead, he strode forward until he and A deline were only a few inches apart. "What are you doing?" Adel ine snapped. Brendan answered in a cold voice, "You have undertaken the task of designing the interiors of Treacly Honey. In the past few years, the hotel has been prospering. It has been so successful that it has monopolized the hospitality business in the whole country, but the market has been shrinking lately. This redecoration project is supposed to breathe new life into the hotel and bring in new ideas, so I will oversee the project myself. Since you are the head designer of this project, you must make sure that whatever you come up with meets my requirements. Do I make myself clear?"
